Dr. Katie Halbmaier is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Iowa and is certified in Advanced Clinical Genomics Nursing (ACGN). Her clinical expertise includes general cardiology, cardiovascular genetics, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)/infiltrative cardiomyopathy. She has been teaching genetic/genomic courses in the RN-BSN program since 2016 and developed the genetics/genomics course for the graduate nursing program in 2019.

Her research and clinical interests focus on cardiovascular genetics, integrating genomic advancements into nursing practice, and improving patient outcomes in complex cardiac conditions. She contributes to both clinical care and educational innovation within the College of Nursing.
