معرفی
Katie Flanagan is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University. Her research focuses on immunology, clinical sciences, and public health, with particular emphasis on vaccine efficacy, infectious diseases, and oncological biomarkers. She collaborates widely and is actively involved in adaptive clinical trials, such as the PICOBOO and SNAP trials, to evaluate vaccination strategies and antibiotic stewardship. Professor Flanagan is open to supervising PhD and master’s students in these areas.
Her work bridges basic science and clinical applications, addressing global health challenges like pandemic preparedness, antibiotic resistance, and cancer diagnostics. Key contributions include studies on T-cell responses to influenza, IL-6 modulation in ovarian cancer, and the non-specific effects of vaccines across demographics. Her publications reflect a multidisciplinary approach, integrating immunology, epidemiology, and molecular biology.
Professor Flanagan’s research also explores sex-differential immunity, neonatal vaccination strategies, and the molecular mechanisms of life-threatening respiratory viruses. She advocates for evidence-based health policies and ethical prescribing practices to improve patient outcomes and public health resilience.
