Dr. Katie Ekberg is a Senior Lecturer in Health Sciences at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Caring Futures Institute. She holds a PhD and Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Adelaide, along with a Graduate Certificate in Science, Technology, and Commercialisation.
Her research focuses on psychosocial aspects of health, healthcare communication, patient-centered care, hearing loss, and paediatric palliative care. She coordinates the HLTH2007 unit on social and psychological aspects of health and wellbeing.
Recent work examines stigma associated with hearing loss and hearing aids, exploring adult and family experiences through qualitative and interdisciplinary methods. Her contributions have been widely disseminated via peer-reviewed journals and media outlets.
