Kathy Trieu

Dr Kathy Trieu is a public health nutritionist affiliated with the George Institute for Global Health and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where she holds a conjoint Senior Lecturer appointment. She earned her PhD in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, complemented by an MPH and a BAppSc in Nutrition & Exercise Science.

• Specializes in diet-related disease burden, particularly cardiovascular diseases and NCDs
• Focuses on policy development, implementation science, and dietary assessment methods
• Active in global public health initiatives across 10 countries via WHO Collaborating Center

Her research translates findings into actionable policies, supported by grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the National Heart Foundation of Australia. She supervises Honours, Masters, and PhD students in public health nutrition and effectiveness evaluation, while teaching courses on dietary assessment, NCD prevention, and public health policy at UNSW.
