Kathy Sheppard-Jones, Ph.D. (Educational Psychology, University of Kentucky), is an adjunct assistant professor in the Counselor Education program at the University of Kentucky. She concurrently serves as the Training and Adult Services Director at the Human Development Institute (HDI), Kentucky’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, where she oversees the Graduate Certificate in Developmental Disabilities program. Her professional roles also involve collaborative projects with the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Kentucky Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, Kentucky Department of Medicaid, and the Rehabilitation Services Administration.
Her research focuses on quality of life and consumer satisfaction within developmental disability contexts. Dr. Sheppard-Jones has been honored with the AUCD Young Professionals Award for her contributions to the field.
Her work integrates rehabilitation counseling, adult education, and disability studies, addressing systemic improvements in support services for individuals with disabilities. She leads interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance policy and practice in developmental disabilities through HDI’s initiatives.
