Dr. Park's research program critically examines implicit and explicit disability biases among service providers, multicultural considerations in rehabilitation practice, and career development pathways for transition-age youth with disabilities. Her work investigates how disability attitudes impact professional competency and therapeutic alliances, with special attention to Asian American populations and identity development processes. Current projects include validation of the Disability Attitude Implicit Association Test (DA-IAT) and exploration of cyberbullying impacts on college student well-being.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals three dominant research trajectories: (1) Psychometric validation of disability attitude measures and bias interventions, (2) Intersectional studies on vocational rehabilitation for minority populations (particularly Asian Americans with mental illness), and (3) Cyberbullying victimization dynamics among college students with emphasis on psychosocial mediators like sense of purpose and flourishing. Her work consistently bridges rehabilitation theory with clinical practice across diverse populations.
As Principal Investigator and Co-PI, Dr. Park directs multiple federally funded initiatives examining disability identity development, career trajectories for emerging adults with disabilities, and culturally responsive rehabilitation services. Her research program demonstrates sustained commitment to improving vocational outcomes through evidence-based interventions and policy-relevant findings.
Originally from South Korea, Dr. Park brings international perspective to her work after relocating to the United States for graduate studies. Her 11 years of professional experience across Chicago and East Lansing inform her approach to counselor education and rehabilitation practice.
