Kathy Pain is a Professor of Real Estate Development at the Department of Real Estate and Planning, Henley Business School, University of Reading. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a Co-Director of the Globalization & World Cities (GaWC) Research Network's Global City Planning research. Her work bridges social science concepts with quantitative data to address urban sustainability and governance challenges.
- Education: PhD in Geography from University of Reading
Her research focuses on sustainable urban development, global city networks, and the intersection of real estate investment with public health. Recent projects examine how health evidence informs real estate social impact metrics and spatial equity.
Key publications include 15 recent articles on topics like urban health policy, polycentric city regions, and financial flows in global cities. She has advised government bodies in China and served on RICS and UK Smart Cities parliamentary groups.
