Dr. Kathy Glass is a Professor of English at Duquesne University, affiliated with the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts. Her research focuses on 19th-century African American and American literature, with emphasis on cultural studies and gender dynamics. She holds a Ph.D. in Literature from UC San Diego (2004), an M.A. from the same institution (2000), and a B.A. in English from UCLA (1994).
Her work explores intersections of race, gender, and social justice in literary contexts. Key themes include Black women’s experiences in fiction, pedagogical approaches to racial equity, and historical activism. Her scholarship bridges literary analysis with sociopolitical critique, addressing how cultural narratives shape identity and resistance.
Dr. Glass’s publications span critical essays on authors like Nella Larsen and Anna Julia Cooper, alongside analyses of contemporary pedagogical strategies for social change.
