Kathy Elertson

Kathy Elertson serves as Professor and Associate Dean in the College of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She holds a DNP and M.S. in Nursing from UW-Madison, plus a B.S. from Concordia University Wisconsin.

Her clinical scholarship focuses on pediatric care innovation, health equity for LGBTQ+ populations, and substance use interventions. Notable projects include developing universal prenatal screening protocols, diabetes management tools for youth using art-based methods, and curricular reforms for inclusive healthcare education.

Honored with the 2022 Edward M. Penson Teaching Award and multiple research grants, she advances nursing practice through evidence-based interventions. Leadership includes directing SBIRT training programs and palliative care initiatives.
