Kathy Andresen is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in the School of Nursing at the University of West Florida's College of Health. Previously, she served as Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Nursing at St. Ambrose University, Iowa. Her expertise spans community-based nursing, school health policy, and nursing education. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on organizational leadership and nursing education from Rush University.
Dr. Andresen's education includes a diploma in practical nursing, an Associate Degree in Nursing from Scott Community College, a Bachelor's in Health Arts from University of St. Francis, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. She is pursuing a Master in Public Health and holds certifications as Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Online Teaching Specialist.
Her research focuses on disease management in K-12 schools and leadership in nursing education, with publications in School Nursing journals and the International Journal of Nursing Education Scholarship. She advocates for policy-driven school nursing practices and has led interprofessional projects. She is actively involved in public health advocacy in the Pensacola region.
