Kathryn Moore is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Connecticut. Her teaching and research focus on medieval and Renaissance art in Europe and the Mediterranean, with courses on Italian Renaissance Art, Islamic Art, The Early Illustrated Book, and Global Jerusalem. She pioneered the Global Jerusalem project, supported by UConn’s Greenhouse Studios and Provost Office, which examines Jerusalem’s artistic and technological representation across Abrahamic religions.
- Education: PhD in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University
- Research Interests: Intersections of Islamic and European art history, digital heritage, and the cultural significance of architectural motifs like the arabesque.
- Publications: Explores digital virtualizations of Jerusalem and co-edited two volumes on Islamic religious architecture.
- Awards: Prose Award, Otto Gründler Book Prize, and Sharon Harris Book Award for her scholarship.
- Current Projects: Co-editing a journal issue on the Tree of Life and writing a monograph on the European concept of the arabesque.
- Grants: Senior fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, Harvard University’s Villa I Tatti fellowship, and Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society.
