Dr. Kathryn McDougal is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Towson University's Fisher College of Science and Mathematics. Her research focuses on human genetics, molecular biology, and genomics, particularly using data from the All of Us Research Program and collaborative projects on bacterial proteins.
Education:
- B.S. Biochemistry, Alma College
- Ph.D. Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Genetic Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins/Bloomberg School of Public Health
Her work bridges genomics with epidemiological approaches to study disease mechanisms, emphasizing student involvement in authentic research experiences. Publications predominantly explore genetic factors in cystic fibrosis and sarcoidosis, demonstrating consistent focus on gene-environment interactions and modifier genes influencing disease progression.
Dr. McDougal contributes to Dr. Matthew Hemm's research on novel E.coli proteins, expanding her lab's interdisciplinary impact.
