Professor Kathryn Libin holds the Mary Conover Mellon Chair in Music at Vassar College, where she has been a faculty member since 1992. Her research focuses on 18th-century music, Mozart and his contemporaries, Jane Austen's musical milieu, and early keyboard instruments. She led a research team cataloging the Lobkowicz Library collection (17th–19th century) and co-curated the Lobkowicz Palace museum's 'Portrait in Music' galleries.

Her publications include Highlights (2019), Beethoven (2020), and an upcoming Mozart volume (2024). She is also writing a biography of Prince Lobkowitz, a key Viennese musical patron during Haydn/Beethoven's era. Courses taught include music theory, global medieval/renaissance music studies, and interdisciplinary Faust/Romanticism studies.
Recent initiatives include the digital carillon project restoring Vassar's chapel bells, funded in memory of an alumna. She oversees the Vassar Music Treasures program and collaborates with cultural heritage institutions in Prague and Vienna.
