Harrison Shieh is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Vassar College since 2024, specializing in applied macroeconomics with a focus on monetary policy, international finance, and the Chinese economy. He holds a PhD from UC Santa Cruz (2024), preceded by degrees from UC Irvine (BA), CSU Fullerton (MA), and El Camino College (AA). His research examines central bank communications, policy transmission mechanisms, and China's economic influence. He has taught at multiple institutions, including Saddleback College as an adjunct since 2017, and received the Milam-McGinty-Kaun Teaching Award.
Research interests include global spillovers of Chinese monetary policy, shadow finance in China, and Indian monetary policy. He has presented at conferences such as the Chinese Economists Society North America Conference and the NBER China Working Group. His work has been published in the Journal of International Money and Finance and featured in working papers exploring supply chain impacts and policy effects.
