Kathryn Kana

Kathryn Kana serves as an Assistant Professor in the International Business and Logistics Department at Maine Maritime Academy since 2018, bringing over a decade of maritime and business expertise to her role.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Master of Science in International Logistics Management, Maine Maritime Academy
• Bachelor’s degree in Classics and Environmental Studies, Hobart and William Smith Colleges
• U.S. Coast Guard Master’s License

Professor Kana's research and professional interests focus on:

• Maritime Logistics and International Business
• Maritime Operations and Vessel Management
• Business Management in High-Growth Companies
• Navigation and Seamanship Education

She has been recognized with:

• Presentations at national conferences on enrollment and marketing strategies

Prior to academia, Professor Kana co-founded and operated charter businesses, served as an at-sea educator teaching navigation and seamanship to students of all ages, and managed cargo operations and financial transactions aboard vessels in the South Pacific. Her practical experience enriches her teaching in the classroom and on the water.
