Kathryn Carruthers is a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) affiliated with the School of Health & Life Sciences at Teesside University. She specializes in neonatal care, premature birth, and infection prevention, with a focus on qualitative research methods and creative dissemination. She leads multiple research projects as Principal Investigator (PI), including studies on occupational justice for preterm infants and pandemic impacts on parental experiences.

She employs Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), photoelicitation, and mixed-methods evaluations to address healthcare challenges.
Projects: Her active projects include infection prevention protocols for preterm infants, occupational justice frameworks in neonatal units, and longitudinal studies on mothers’ transitions post-preterm labor. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address gaps in neonatal care and maternal health.
Dissemination: As a co-director of a creative business, she leverages photography and videography to translate research findings into accessible formats. This dual expertise bridges clinical and creative industries to enhance healthcare narratives.
