Kathryn Asbury is a Professor and Co-Head of Department at the University of York, specializing in educational psychology with particular focus on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SENDs) and genetics in education. As director of the GOALS (GenOmics And Life Stories) research group, she combines behavioral genetics with educational policy analysis while developing inclusive research methodologies.

Her recent research explores co-produced data collection methods for learning-disabled populations, genomic research implications for autism studies, and Covid-19's impact on neurodivergent families. She actively supervises PhD projects at the intersection of narrative identity and educational outcomes, as well as genetic research applications in educational policy.
Key collaborations include work with the Twins' Early Development Study (TEDS) team at King's College London. Her methodological innovations in augmented communication strategies and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) frameworks are transforming research practices with nonverbal and minimally verbal participants.
