Kathrine Røe Redalen

Professor Kathrine Røe Redalen holds a dual role as Professor in the Department of Physics and Deputy of Research at NTNU’s Faculty of Natural Sciences. Her research focuses on medical radiation physics, biophysics, and advanced imaging techniques such as PET and MRI for cancer treatment optimization. She leads a multidisciplinary team investigating proton therapy, radiation biophysics, and tumor microenvironment dynamics. Key projects include improving diagnostics via multi-center nuclear medicine approaches and tailoring radiotherapy strategies for prostate and head/neck cancers.

Research interests span computational modeling of radiation interactions, hypoxia-driven treatment adaptations, and theranostic agent development. She has published extensively on topics like quantitative imaging biomarkers, proton therapy planning, and radiobiological simulations. Notable collaborations include the Norwegian Nuclear Medicine Consortium and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology. Awards include membership in the Young Academy of Norway and participation in NTNU’s Outstanding Academic Fellows program (2019–2023).
