Kathleen Vello is an Adjunct Professor at Vermont Law School and an environmental and energy attorney with 18 years of experience. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and Maryland, currently works at a Federal agency that promulgates environmental regulations, and previously served at another agency regulating surface coal mining extraction. She also lectures at various colleges and universities.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from University of Pittsburgh
- Juris Doctor (JD) from Duquesne University
- LL.M. from Vermont Law School
Kathleen’s research and expertise span environmental and energy law, fossil fuel regulation, administrative law, taxation policy, land use and zoning, and the legal distinctions between service animals, emotional support animals, and animal-assisted therapies. She integrates these interests into her legal practice and volunteer work, including annual tax return preparation for indigent clients.
Lecturing and Volunteer Contributions: As a frequent lecturer, she shares knowledge on environmental litigation, fossil fuel contracting, and taxation. She also coordinates the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and volunteers with her therapy dog, Victoria, in hospitals, schools, and courtrooms.
