Kathleen Nicolaides is a Teaching Professor and Director of the Legal Studies Minor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), within the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. She holds a J.D. from Emory Law School (1987) and a B.A. from Duke University (1984). Prior to her academic career, she served as a federal prosecutor.
As Undergraduate Coordinator and Academic Advisor, she oversees curriculum development, course requirements, and student career preparation in criminal justice. She also serves as the pre-law advisor, assisting students with law school applications, personal statements, and career planning. She advises the pre-law society, organizing guest lectures with law school admissions directors and annual trips to Washington D.C.
Her research interests focus on criminal courts, public corruption, white-collar crime, and legal system dynamics. She contributes to Thomson Publishing’s testing materials and engages in media commentary on legal topics. She also directs UNC Charlotte’s annual Constitution Day event, featuring legal professionals and public engagement.
