Kathleen McCoy is a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She serves as Scientific Director of the International Microbiome Centre and is a Full Member of the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases, Inflammation Research Network, and Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on the microbiome’s role in regulating host immunity and physiology.

Her lab investigates the gut microbiome’s interplay with innate and adaptive immune systems, emphasizing early-life microbial exposure’s impact on diseases like allergy, autoimmunity, neurodevelopmental disorders, and cancer immunotherapy. She leads a 10,000-square-foot germ-free/gnotobiotic facility and employs intravital microscopy for advanced imaging.
