Kathleen Loock is a Professor of American Studies and Media Studies at Leibniz University Hannover, where she directs the Emmy Noether Research Group 'Hollywood Memories: Cinematic Remaking and the Construction of Global Movie Generations' (2020-2026). Her research focuses on remakes, sequels, and reboots as cultural practices that negotiate memory, identity, and generational belonging through seriality in Hollywood cinema. Her book Hollywood Remaking: How Film Remakes, Sequels, and Franchises Shape Industry and Culture (University of California Press, 2024) examines how repetition and innovation in franchises like Ghostbusters and Star Wars reflect industrial logic and cultural politics.
