Kathleen Lahey is a Professor and Queen's National Scholar at the Faculty of Law, Queen's University, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Gender Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds affiliations with the Tax Justice Network (UK), the Tromsø-Umeå-Arkhangelsk-Kingston Arctic Circumpolar Network, and co-directs the Feminist Legal Studies program at Queen’s University. A member of the Ontario and Illinois bars, she specializes in tax, corporate, gender, international tax, property, and human rights law. Her research addresses structural inequalities, redistributive fiscal policies, and Indigenous knowledge systems to achieve sustainability and equity.
Lahey’s degrees include a BA from the University of Illinois, JD (cum laude) from DePaul University, and LLM from York University. She serves on the boards of the Tax Justice Network and the Global Alliance for Tax Justice steering committee. Her work emphasizes gender-impact analysis in taxation and advocating for equitable fiscal policies globally.
Her research interests span law and legal practice, law and society, feminist legal theory, and international tax law. Notable publications include analyses of same-sex marriage legal strategies, gender disparities in taxation, and the intersection of fiscal policy with substantive equality goals.
