Kathleen Ford is an Emeritus Research Scientist in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, with adjunct appointments at Mahidol University (2005-present). Her research examines health disparities among vulnerable populations in Southeast Asia, particularly:
- HIV risk factors for Cambodian, Laotian, and Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand
- Mental health and gender dynamics in Thailand's conflict-affected southern provinces
- COVID-19 response mechanisms and social capital in Thai communities
Her longitudinal studies employ mixed methods to analyze how migration, civil unrest, and public health crises impact mental health, family structures, and community resilience. Ford has received NIH funding for AIDS research and served on multiple NIH study sections.
