She holds a PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of Chicago, where she also completed her MA. Her BA in Spanish was earned summa cum laude from Saint Xavier College.
Her research specializes in gender-focused literary analysis spanning the 19th to 21st centuries, with emphases on:

- Cultural representations of female identity during the Franco regime
- Post-colonial anxieties in Spanish literature
- Ecofeminist approaches to contemporary poetry (current project on Juana Castro)

Analysis of her recent publications reveals consistent exploration of gender violence, female autonomy, and narrative resistance across historical contexts. Her work frequently employs feminist frameworks to examine legal, colonial, and sociopolitical dimensions in Peninsular literature.
Professor Doyle teaches 12 courses including Elementary Spanish, Twentieth-Century Spanish literature, specialized seminars on women writers, and regional language studies. Her pedagogical approach integrates cultural studies with language acquisition.
