Kathleen Brandert

Kathleen Brandert, PhD, MPH, serves as Assistant Dean of Public Health Practice and Director of the Office of Public Health Practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Public Health. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion.

Education:

• BA in Communication Studies and Psychology (2001) - University of Nebraska-Lincoln

• PhD in Human Sciences, Leadership Studies (2023) - University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Dr. Brandert’s research and professional focus centers on leadership development, workforce training, and health equity. Her work addresses infant mortality, health inequities, and leadership capacity building through programs like the Great Plains Leadership Institute and CityMatCH collaborations.

Recent publications demonstrate expertise in equity-centered leadership frameworks, interprofessional collaboration, and adapting training programs during crises like pandemics. Her work spans health policy education, community-based systems interventions, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) implementation in academic institutions.

As a certified executive and team coach, she supports organizational change through programs like the Clinical Scholars Program at UNC-Chapel Hill (2015-2023) and previously held administrative roles at UNMC including Workforce Development and Leadership Programs Manager (2012-2022).
