Kathie Stromile Golden is a Professor of Rural Public Policy at Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), where she also serves as Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (2019–present). She previously held significant administrative roles at MVSU, including Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (2014–2017) and Director of the Delta Research and Cultural Institute (2001–2005). Her academic career spans multiple institutions, including Clark Atlanta University, University of Colorado, Texas Tech University, and Arkansas State University.

Her research focuses on communist and post-communist societies, international education, and cultural dynamics within HBCUs. She has led higher education partnership programs in Liberia, Mauritania, and Azerbaijan, and directed the Mississippi Consortium for International Development’s Higher Education and Development Project for Iraq (2003–2005). Her expertise includes academic programming, fiscal affairs, strategic planning, and policy development.
Kathie has received grants and awards for international curriculum development, including a Fulbright Lecturer/Researcher position at The Academy for Public Administration in Azerbaijan (2005). She has presented at conferences on topics like cross-campus relationships, international program development, and cultural understanding. Her leadership roles extend to serving as Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists and Director of its Graduate Assistantship Program.
