Katherine Vance is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Simpson University's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. She teaches courses ranging from College Algebra to advanced topics for math majors, while serving as Co-Director of Undergraduate Research and academic advisor.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics (Rice University, 2016), M.A. in Mathematics (Rice University, 2011), B.A. in Mathematics with Music concentration (Columbia University, 2010)
Her research focuses on knot theory and low-dimensional topology, with additional expertise in spatial graphs and Heegaard Floer homology. She actively contributes to the Iowa Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

Katherine supervises undergraduate research projects and maintains a strong commitment to academic advising, fostering student engagement in mathematics through multiple institutional roles.
