Adam S. Levine is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on low-dimensional topology, particularly 3- and 4-dimensional manifolds, knot theory, and applications of Heegaard Floer homology. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University (2010) and a B.A. from Harvard University (2005).
His work explores exotic 4-manifolds, knot concordance, and topological invariants. Notable contributions include the study of rationally slice knots, exotic 4-manifold constructions, and the interplay between Khovanov and Heegaard Floer homologies. Levine has been supported by NSF grants, including the 2022-2026 'Four-Manifolds and Categorification' grant.
He serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Mathematics Department and previously led the Diversity and Inclusion initiative. His teaching spans topology, algebraic topology, and manifold theory. Recent presentations include talks at Stanford, Princeton, and Indiana University.
