Katherine Tschida is the Mary Armstrong Meduski ‘80 Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on neural circuits governing animal vocalizations, particularly ultrasonic vocalizations in mice during social interactions.
- Studied social context encoding in neural circuits
- Investigates coordination of vocal muscle movements with respiration via brainstem neurons
- Examines communication deficits in autism spectrum disorder models
Her lab employs optogenetic, chemogenetic, in vivo imaging, and behavioral assays to dissect these mechanisms.
Scientific Awards
- Sloan Fellowship
Lab Focus
