Katherine Poston serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Nursing within the Jeanette C. Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions at Cumberland University. She holds an A.S. from San Joaquin Delta College, a B.S. from Tennessee Technological University, and a BSN from Cumberland University (2010).
Her professional experience spans diverse healthcare settings, including roles as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at National HealthCare Corporation and later on the Pulmonary Unit at Cookeville Regional Medical Center (2009–2014). She transitioned to the State of Tennessee’s Newborn Screening Division (2014–2015) before returning to critical care at Livingston Regional Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where she also cross-trained in Medical-Surgical, Rehab, and Same Day Surgery units. She is recognized for her dedication to mentoring new nurses and teaching.
Poston emphasizes patient-centered care and the importance of educating future nurses. Her clinical expertise lies in critical care, patient advocacy, and interprofessional collaboration.
Outside academia, she enjoys running, hiking, and family time.
