Katherine Parker is a Lecturer of Voice and Vocal Coordinator in the School of Music at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Artistic Director of Nevada Chamber Opera. She holds a Master of Music (MM) in Vocal Pedagogy from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, alongside K-12 teaching certifications and a 200-hour yoga instructor certification. Her career spans faculty roles at institutions like Boston Conservatory, Salem State University, and Walnut Hill School for the Arts, alongside extensive guest artist and clinician engagements nationwide.
Her artistic work bridges classical opera, musical theatre, and contemporary performance, with notable roles in Matilda, Bridges of Madison County, and Sweeney Todd. She specializes in 20th-century techniques and new works, premiering pieces at festivals like International Clarinet Association and NEO Voice Festival. Her interdisciplinary projects include a Baroque opera exhibit at the UNR Lilley Gallery, blending art and music with landscape painter Phyllis Shafer.
Parker’s pedagogical focus on vocal health and performance has cultivated students who excel in opera, theatre, and academia, earning accolades such as Metropolitan Opera Competitions and securing roles with institutions like Deutsche Oper Berlin and Broadway tours. Her research interests emphasize vocal technique, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative performance practices.
