Katherine Massoth is an Associate Professor of History at the University of New Mexico, specializing in Women’s and Gender History, U.S.-Mexico Borderlands History, and Cultural/Social History of the American West and Southwest. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in U.S.-Mexico Borderlands History and Women’s and Gender History from the University of Iowa, with B.A. degrees in History and Social Science-Secondary Education from the University of California, Irvine.

- Research: Interdisciplinary focus on gender roles, foodways, transborder networks, and cultural/legal systems in 19th-century U.S.-Mexico Borderlands
Her work engages digital humanities and oral history, with a forthcoming article in the Journal of Arizona History and a book manuscript under contract with the University of North Carolina Press. Awards include the Beveridge Grant and Huntington Library Fellowship. She serves as newsletter editor and graduate mentor for the Coalition for Western Women’s History.
