Katherine M. Ruffin is a Lecturer in Art at Wellesley College and teaches the history of the book at Simmons University's School of Library and Information Science. She directs Wellesley's Book Studies Program and integrates letterpress printing, bookbinding, and papermaking into liberal arts curricula.
- Education: A.B. in Philosophy (Bryn Mawr College), M.F.A. in Book Arts (University of Alabama), Ph.D. in Library and Information Science (Simmons University)
Her research focuses on the history of the book, typography, and pedagogical approaches to book arts. She has published limited edition works under her Shinola Press imprint since 1994.
Notable accolades include the 2024 Outstanding Book Arts Alumnae Award and Graduate Centennial Scholar designation from the University of Alabama. She was elected to the American Antiquarian Society in 2022 and served as Vice President for Publications in the American Printing History Association (2016-2020).
