Katherine Larson is a Professor of English at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), currently serving as Vice-Dean of Teaching, Learning & Undergraduate Programs (on leave for 2023-24). She previously chaired the Department of English and actively contributes to equity initiatives and responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.
Her research investigates Early Modern Literature and Culture through feminist frameworks, focusing on Women's Writing, Gender and Language, Rhetoric and Embodiment, Music and Song, and Critical Pedagogy. She examines gendered dimensions of sound and space in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England, integrating her background as a singer into scholarship like her award-winning book The Matter of Song in Early Modern England, which features an open-access musical companion.
Professor Larson's accolades include:
