Katherine L.W. Norton is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Scholarship at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Duquesne University. She also directs clinical and international programs, supervising the Family Law Clinic. Her roles include teaching family law and clinical advocacy, alongside consulting for Voelker & Kairys, P.C.
Educated at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D.) and Allegheny College (B.S. in Psychology), her expertise spans family law, access to justice, and clinical legal education. She focuses on integrating technology to enhance legal access for marginalized groups and improving pro bono services in custody cases.
Norton’s research emphasizes bridging gaps in legal technology adoption post-pandemic, AI’s role in justice systems, and equitable pro se litigation tools. She has received awards including the 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award and 2019 Edward J. O'Connor Award for her contributions to legal education and pro bono advocacy.
Her grants include a project on technology-enhanced custody appeals funded by the American Bar Endowment (2022–2023). She actively contributes to professional organizations like the Allegheny County Bar Association and Neighborhood Legal Services Association, shaping policies on children’s issues and pro bono initiatives.
