Katherine Kohari

Katherine Kohari serves as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine and holds key leadership positions including Associate Director of the Fetal Care Center and Medical Director of Outpatient Services for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She joined Yale's Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2014 and provides care to patients both in New Haven and at satellite offices in Westport and Norwalk, Connecticut.

Dr. Kohari specializes in high-risk pregnancies with complications threatening mother, baby, or both. Her clinical expertise includes employing the latest 2D and 3D ultrasound technology for early and accurate diagnoses, as well as performing diagnostic procedures such as CVS and amniocentesis. Her research focuses on fetal diseases and obstetric labor complications, with publications examining topics ranging from vaccination trends during pregnancy to placental vascular pathologies in twin gestations.

Her recent scholarly work demonstrates a strong focus on improving care delivery for high-risk pregnancies, with particular attention to person-centered care in fetal medicine, social determinants affecting diagnosis timing, and management of periviability. Her publications consistently address practical clinical questions with implications for immediate patient care improvements.

Dr. Kohari is an active member of professional organizations including the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the New Haven Obstetrical Society. She serves as Principal Investigator for the 'Surveillance and Treatment to Prevent Fetal Atrioventricular Block Likely to Occur Quickly (STOP BLOQ)' clinical trial and as Sub Investigator for multiple other studies focused on pregnancy outcomes and management.

Her educational background includes a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University (2003), an MD from New York Medical College (2007) where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, followed by Ob/Gyn residency and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
