Katherine Innamorati, PhD, is an Instructor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Drexel University College of Medicine. Her research focuses on microbial genomics, bacterial pathogenesis, and equine genetics. She was awarded the Mary DeWitt Pettit, MD, Fellowship in 2024.
Her work spans comparative genomic analyses of pathogens like Gardnerella and Porphyromonas gingivalis, as well as investigations into equine genetic disorders. Notably, she has explored antibiotic resistance mechanisms and the genetic basis of equine deafness through candidate gene studies.
Publications highlight her contributions to understanding microbial diversity via pangenome studies and genomic adaptation strategies in bacteria. She has also engaged in cross-disciplinary projects linking veterinary science with molecular genetics.
