Katherine D. Harris is a Professor of Literature & Digital Humanities in the Department of English & Comparative Literature at San José State University (SJSU), and Director of Public Programming for the College of Humanities & the Arts. She holds a PhD in English from The Graduate Center, CUNY (2005) with certificates in Women’s Studies, and has taught since 1999. Her research bridges Romantic/19th-century British literature, feminist theory, and Digital Humanities, focusing on literary annuals, digital pedagogy, and open educational resources (OER).
Her major works include Forget Me Not: The Rise of the British Literary Annual (2015) and co-editing Digital Pedagogy in the Humanities (2020). She pioneered the Forgotten Gothic anthology and a hypertextual archive project. Her recent work explores DH in teaching-intensive universities, 19th-century Indian literary annuals, and public humanities initiatives like San Jose's public art resistance projects.
Prof. Harris chairs the California Open Educational Resources Council, authored OER adoption studies, and coordinates interdisciplinary programs such as the Frankenstein Bicentennial. She actively contributes to editorial boards including the Poetess Archive Journal and serves on academic committees focused on technology, curriculum development, and library initiatives.
