Katherine Crowley is an Assistant Professor at the College of Science and Humanities, Husson University. Her research focuses on forest and wetland ecosystems, particularly the role of plants in changing environments. She develops models like Spe-CN to study interactions between invasive species, climate change, and nitrogen pollution in northeastern U.S. forests.
Education:
- Ph.D., Natural Resources, Cornell University (2013)
- M.S., Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, University of Minnesota (2008)
- B.S., Botany and Zoology, Michigan State University (2005)
Research Interests: Kathy investigates how plant species dynamics interact with environmental stressors. Her work combines field research and computational modeling to address ecosystem resilience. Current projects include modeling invasive insects' impacts and climate-driven changes in forest biogeochemistry.
Previously, she held roles as Assistant Professor of Plant Biology at Unity Environmental University, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, and environmental consultant in Nevada. She emphasizes professional development for students through experiential learning.
