Katherine Craft is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work bridges creative practice and academic instruction, focusing on screenwriting, playwriting, and film production.

Her research interests include narrative development for emerging media platforms, with a focus on comedy and socially engaged storytelling. She has pioneered projects like the Audible Original series SHAKY and the Snap Original KAPPA CRYPTO, while advocating for underrepresented voices in entertainment.
Craft’s recent work includes the feature script SKRRRT! (Athena List finalist), BEST FOOT FORWARD (Apple TV+ staff writer), and the HBO short JUNE (Tribeca Film Festival premiere). Her creative output often intersects with social impact initiatives.
Scientific and artistic accolades include the HBOAccess Fellowship, Tribeca Film Festival recognition for HALFWAY, and showcase awards for JUNE and CHARLOTTE AND CHARLIE.
Before her academic role, Craft founded Conspire Theatre, a nonprofit using drama to support women during and after incarceration, and served as a teaching artist in Austin, Chicago, and London.
