Katherine Cheng is a New York-based violinist and adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Eastman School of Music while serving as Artist in Residence at Valley Manor.
Her educational journey includes:
- Commencing violin studies at age three under her father's tutelage in Hong Kong
- Earning associate and licentiate diplomas from Trinity College London, plus certificates from ABRSM and Shanghai Conservatory before immigrating to the U.S. in 2010
- Attending Juilliard Pre-College Division (2012) with Elizabeth Chang
- Completing Bachelor of Music at Juilliard School with Frank Huang, receiving Jerome L. Greene, Gluck Community Service, and Morse Teaching Artist Fellowships
- Earning Master of Music at Yale School of Music with Tai Murray, winning the Malcolm L. Mitchell and Donald M. Roberts Class of 1957 Prize for teaching excellence
- Currently pursuing DMA at Eastman School of Music with Robin Scott on full scholarship
