Dr. Katharina Gerl is a researcher at the Department of Political Science (Chair II) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), where she has worked since 2016. Her research focuses on digital democratic innovations in politics and administration, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in political opinion formation and decision-making.
- Education: BA in Political Science (University of Bremen), MA in Political Communication (HHU Düsseldorf)
She contributes to projects examining digital participation, including:
- IndI (Innovative Interventions for Discursive Integration)
- DigiBeSt (digital participation instruments in site selection processes)
- KOSMO (AI-supported social moderation of online discourses)
- Online participation in BUND NRW e.V.
- Accompanying research on the Wahl-O-Mat during the 2017 North Rhine-Westphalia state elections
