PD Dr. Katharina Böhnert is a Privatdozentin (Associate Professor equivalent) in the Department of German Subject Didactics at RWTH Aachen University, Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her role encompasses research and teaching in German language and literature education, with a focus on inclusive practices for heterogeneous classrooms. Previously, she held a Visiting Professorship in Language Didactics at TU Braunschweig from September 2023 to October 2024 and served as a Research Assistant at RWTH Aachen from February 2016 to August 2023.
Academic qualifications include a First State Examination (M.A. level) in German, French, Philosophy, and Educational Sciences from Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (2012), a Franco-German Bachelor's degree in German-French Cultural Relations from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (2010), a PhD in Historical Linguistics of German (2016), and a Habilitation in German Language Didactics (2022) titled "Sprachreflexion in inklusiven Lerngruppen – eine Videografiestudie im Grammatikunterricht der Klassen 6 und 8".
Her research centers on heterogeneous learning processes in language and literature education, emphasizing inclusive teaching in diverse classrooms. Key areas include language reflection and grammar didactics, media didactics for digital literacy, and writing instruction. She also develops linguistic and literary content for school curricula and employs qualitative and mixed-methods research, particularly videography and interview studies, to investigate educational practices.
