Hamburg University of Applied Sciencesمعرفی
Dr. Katharina Angermeier is a researcher and teaching staff member in the Department of Social Work at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Hamburg (completed 2021) in cooperation with HAW Hamburg and has been working as a research assistant in teaching for the Bachelor of Social Work program since January 2021.
Her educational background includes a Master's in Social Work from HAW Hamburg (2015-2017) and a Bachelor's in Social Work from KSH Munich (2011-2015). Her professional experience spans various social work settings including debt counseling, support for people living with disorganization, and mother-child residential care.
Angermeier's research focuses on the intersection of social work, vulnerability, and everyday mathematics practices, particularly in contexts of over-indebtedness and poverty. Her work examines how mathematical literacy impacts social participation and how social workers can better address financial vulnerability through educational approaches. She explores disorganized living patterns and their relationship to socioeconomic vulnerability, emphasizing interdisciplinary case processing methods.
Her publication record shows a consistent focus on vulnerability, debt counseling, and everyday mathematics practices, with numerous publications between 2017-2022. Her research demonstrates a shift from examining educational expectations in social work toward increasingly specialized investigations of mathematical practices within debt contexts and disorganized living situations.
Angermeier contributes to teaching through Specialist Projects on disorganized life in the Hamburg assistance system, communication skills, professional action concepts, interdisciplinary casework, and debt & social work. She also organizes orientation units for first-year students, demonstrating her commitment to social work education.
She is actively involved in the Hamburg Numeracy Project, a research initiative examining everyday mathematical practices in adult basic education contexts, particularly focusing on vulnerable populations with financial constraints. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in social work settings, addressing critical issues of social participation and vulnerability.
