Katerine Lopez serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at St. Thomas University College of Law while simultaneously holding the position of Chief Assistant Public Defender for the County Court Division of the Broward County Public Defender's Office in Florida.

- J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law (2013), where she served as Staff Editor for the St. Thomas Law Review
Her professional expertise centers on criminal litigation and forensic science, with specialized focus on DNA identification evidence. With extensive courtroom experience handling hundreds of criminal cases including major felonies, she combines practical public defense work with legal education. Her commitment to indigent representation drives her dual career path in both the courtroom and law school.
Professor Lopez actively mentors future legal professionals through supervising new attorneys in the Public Defender's Office and coaching the championship-winning STU Mock Trial Team. Her work emphasizes practical trial skills development and ethical representation of underserved populations.
