Katelyn Scott, MSc., CTRS, serves as an Instructor and Internship Coordinator for the Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation (BTR) program at Lethbridge Polytechnic. With over 12 years of clinical experience since 2011, she specializes in dementia care across long-term care, supportive living, acute care, and community settings.
She earned her Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Lethbridge and holds a Master of Science degree. Her scholarly work investigates organizational contexts that enable or impede evidence-based practice translation into direct client care, particularly in dementia treatment.
Scott's clinical expertise encompasses non-pharmacological dementia interventions including Montessori-based therapies, horticulture, expressive arts, cognitive stimulation, aquatics, and music care. She emphasizes community reintegration, social connection, role fulfillment, and leisure education to combat caregiver burnout through wheelchair biking and home-based respite services.
Collaborating with Dr. Sienna Caspar, she co-founded the Relational Care Knowledge Hub and Therapeutic Recreation Centre of Excellence. As Internship Coordinator, she facilitates experiential classroom learning and oversees BTR student placements, focusing on field-based application of therapeutic recreation principles for student success.
