Kate Zaytseva is an Associate Professor in the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology at the University of Kentucky, and serves as Associate Director of Graduate Studies. She is affiliated with the Markey Cancer Center. Her research focuses on lipid metabolism in colorectal cancer (CRC), particularly the role of Fatty Acid Synthase (FASN) in tumor progression and metastasis. Her work explores therapeutic strategies targeting de novo lipogenesis and metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer cells.
Education: PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Kentucky, with prior degrees from Rostov State University (Russia) and North Caucasus Personnel Center (Russia).
Research Interests: Investigating FASN's role in CRC metastasis, sphingolipid metabolism regulation, CD36's contribution to metastasis, and FASN inhibition in preclinical models. Her lab uses patient-derived xenografts and genetically modified mouse models to evaluate therapeutic efficacy and biomarkers.
