Kate Wood

Kate Wood is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social and Psychological Sciences at the University of Huddersfield, part of the School of Human and Health Sciences. She is affiliated with the Just Futures Centre and the Secure Societies Institute, where she contributes to interdisciplinary research on social justice and policy reform.

Her research centers on social policy, foster and kinship care, adoption, and the rights of sexual and gender minorities, with a strong focus on intersex inclusion and human rights. She explores how marginalized families and individuals navigate welfare systems, and how social work practices can be improved to support vulnerable populations. Her work is closely aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to reduced inequalities and good health and well-being.
