Kate Van Wagner is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work within the College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont (UVM). She teaches social work practice courses across both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. A proud alumna of UVM with both a BSW and MSW, she is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and brings extensive clinical and community experience into her academic role.

- Transformative and generalist social work practice
- Reproductive justice, choice, access, and counseling
- Interprofessional collaboration in healthcare and social services
- Grief, ambiguous loss, and identity

Her work consistently centers on human dignity, equity, and systemic change. Prior to her full-time academic appointment, she served as a part-time lecturer at UVM, demonstrating sustained engagement with social work education.
Kate is actively involved in community advocacy and professional service, having contributed to nonprofit boards including the Vermont Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-VT) and Outright Vermont. She also provides training and consultation to medical teams on full-spectrum pregnancy options counseling. Her background includes roles as a union organizer, birth doula, small business owner, and art teacher, reflecting a deep commitment to social justice and community engagement.
